VABATEC with cutting edge process materials at JEC World 2024

Newly developed VABATop PET is exactly on a par with already known VABATop PAN. The needle punched nonwoven surface veils show high elongation properties and a specific weight between 35gr. and 80gr. They allow a defect free surface, offer osmosis protection of thermoset laminates, improve the chemical resistance and avoid galvanic corrosion by carbon composites.

VABATac 2 spray adhesive enables the partly repositioning of materials in the RTM and infusion process. An extreme fine mist paired with the very high tack leads to a lower consumption and an excellent part finishing. Compatible with all common resins (polyester, epoxy, etc.), VABATac 2 is polychloroprene free and does not interfere with resins’ curing. Correspondingly, the cured products have excellent mechanical properties.

The multiple process film VABALON 150 50µm is designed for vacuum bagging and debunking applications (incl. the use in autoclaves) especially in the automotive industry. It has higher elongation values than normal polyamide films and due to the specific surface properties, VABALON 150 can be also used as a release film with all common resins (incl. phenolic systems) up to 150°C.

VABATEC showcases new products VABATop PAN surface veils and VABATac spray adhesive at JEC WORLD 2023.
VABATop PAN is a needle punched nonwoven PAN surface veil with high elongation properties and a specific weight between 35gr. and 80gr. It allows a defect free surface, offers osmosis protection of thermoset laminates, improves the chemical resistance and avoids galvanic corrosion by carbon composites.
VABATac, the new, in Germany developed and produced repositionable spray adhesive for use in RTM and infusions processes, comes as a very fine mist spray together with a high tack for a temporary fixation of the materials processed.

With the newly developed refrigerant spray VABAFreeze 1, workpieces can be quickly cooled down to approx. -40 °C to -50 °C. As this quick-freeze enables a very easy demold of the composite part, using VABAFreeze 1 is very time saving and reduces the risk of defects on the product.

VABATEC particularly designed the new vacuum bagging film VABALON 400 for the use with thermoplastic matrix materials. It withstands highest working temperatures up to 400°C and shows a high pressure resistance. The material can be customized in the width and thickness.

RF 11 is the new release film developed for the use as a plotter cutter film. The film is robust enough to keep the core textiles and on the same time has excellent tear properties in order to be cut easily in the plotters. With RF 22, a unique release film has been specially developed to achieve a matt surface on the components. It shows very high release properties against all common resin systems including phenolics.

The research project MAI ACoSaLUS aims at the automated, series-ready production of sandwich components with composites skin-layers using the 3D-AFP respectively FPP process. Project partners are the GKN Aerospace Deutschland, SGL Technologies GmbH, Cevotec GmbH, Vischeck GmbH as well as the Augsburg University of Applied Sciences and the Technical University of Munich. Co-funding authority is the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy. VABATEC GmbH provides newly developed vacuum aids for the elaboration of a corresponding gripper-based application technology.

An important milestone in the history of VABATEC GmbH: since June 2020 we are certified according to the new quality management standard ISO 9001:2015

VABATEC launched this new development in January 2020.

The film has been developed for continuous use under high temperature and pressure and can be used for a long time (1-2 hours) at up to 210°C.

A “ready to use” infusion system

In 2019/2020 VABATEC developed the innovative, patented (German patent), self-adhesive infusion system FLIPs T1. This innovative solution combines for the first time all necessary elements (incl. spray adhesive), offers cost and time savings and enables additional increases in productivity.

The new humidity insensitive vacuum film
(up to 150°C) from VABATEC

In September 2018 VABATEC GmbH completed the development of a new innovative vacuum film for the temperature range up to 150°C. This new humidity insensitive VABALON 150 vacuum film is initially available in a thickness of 70µm as flat film, half tube and tube.

End of 2017, VABATEC GmbH completed the development of its new release film for the temperature range up to 150°C. The new RF 2 release film is also available in a perforated version (RF 2P); two types of perforation (HN1 and HN2) for the different applications are already included in the current product portfolio.
